Refreshing bath and shower gel products crafted in the UK: that line has been on our collection page for years. This article explains what sits behind it, and why it is worth checking where your body wash is made before you buy.
What "made in the UK" means for a shower gel
Cosmetics sold in the UK must meet the UK Cosmetics Regulation, with a safety assessment for every product and a responsible person named on the label. Making the product here, rather than importing a finished product, means that assessment is done against the actual formula being poured, not a spec sheet from overseas. It also means ingredient sourcing, batch records and labelling are all in one jurisdiction.
Practically, you get a product that was made recently, has not spent a month in a container, and can be traced back to a batch if there is ever a question.
How our shower gels are made
We make two shower gels, both in the UK, both vegan and cruelty-free, both over a gentle cleansing base rather than a harsh sulphate-heavy one.
Tea Tree Shower Gel
Tea tree essential oil for its antibacterial and antifungal properties, eucalyptus essential oil to cool and soothe, and a gentle surfactant base that cleans without stripping. It is designed for sweat-prone, odour-prone and itchy skin, and it is the product our customers most often buy for athlete's foot, jock itch and body odour. Rated 4.7 by more than 900 customers. Single 250ml bottle or twin pack.
British Rose Shower Gel
Rose essence from hand-picked British roses, a touch of citrus, and the same gentle base. It is the everyday gel for skin that does not need an antibacterial, and for anyone who finds tea tree too medicinal. Single bottle at £4.99 or twin pack.
Why we keep the range small
Many brands offer a dozen shower gels that are the same base with different fragrance. We would rather make two that each solve a distinct problem and make them well. It also keeps batches fresh: a small range turns over quickly, so what you receive was made recently.
How to tell whether a shower gel is really UK-made
- Look for "Made in the UK" on the label itself, not just on the website.
- Check for a UK responsible-person address on the pack.
- Be wary of "designed in the UK" or "UK brand", which can mean made anywhere.
- A batch code on the bottle is a good sign; it means the maker can trace it.
Using a UK-made shower gel well
Origin does not change technique. Wet the skin with warm water, lather a small amount, massage over the body, spending longest on sweat-prone areas if you are using the tea tree gel, then rinse and pat dry. A 250ml bottle lasts four to six weeks of daily use.
Both gels, and everything else we make, are in our shower gel collection. If you are unsure which suits you, start with the guide to the best shower gel for all skin types.
